The 46TH International Book Fair Could Be Held in Pre- Covid Scale

Kolkata: According to the organizers of the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair, scheduled for January next year, if cases do not rise again, the book fair will be held on the pre-Covid scale.

Sudhanshu Sekhar Dey, president of the Publishers and Book Sellers Guild, stated that the next edition of the international book fair would have more stalls and more space.

Dey stated on the sidelines of the 10-day 'Sharod Boi Parbon' (autumn book fair) held in the run-up to Durga Puja, "due to the current COVID-19 situation, the 45th edition of the Kolkata International Book Fair could not be held in 2021. It took place in 2022, with limited stall space and other restrictions."

"If the current situation does not deteriorate, we hope that the 46th edition of the book fair will be on a pre-Covid scale, with larger and more stalls, and more international guests, like the 44th edition in 2020 before the pandemic struck," he said.

There were approximately 600 stalls in 2022, and Dey hopes to increase the number next year to accommodate more publishers and booksellers.
